Sarah-Quita Offringa Secures Second Place at the 2026 Gran Canaria Windsurf World Cup
The 2026 Gran Canaria Gloria Windsurf World Cup concluded with a thrilling finale in the famous wave arena of Pozo Izquierdo. While local rider Daida Ruano Moreno claimed victory on her home turf, our team rider, 28-time world champion Sarah-Quita Offringa delivered a characteristically strong performance to secure second place.

The Aruban showed exceptional skill in what were described as challenging and demanding conditions. After narrowly qualifying for the final, Sarah-Quita acknowledged she was "already happy just to be in the final" and described her second-place finish as "the icing on the cake" given the tricky, marginal wind conditions that made the competition particularly difficult.

The event also featured notable performances from Spanish riders, with local talent Marino Gil Gherardi impressing the crowds throughout the competition. Gil delivered spectacular moves and powerful jumps, though he was ultimately eliminated in the quarter-finals by a highly competitive field. However, Gil found success in the concurrently held Spanish Cup, where he dominated the men's competition with an exceptional score of 19.15 points, confirming his status as a leading figure in Spanish wave windsurfing.

The 38th edition of this prestigious five-star event saw a mix of legendary champions and rising stars, with Sarah-Quita demonstrating once again why she remains one of windsurfing's most decorated athletes.
