Defi Wind 2026: Nico Prien Takes the Fin Win

Five nuclear Tramontana races. 1,400 windsurfers. Three podiums. The 2026 Defi Wind in Gruissan was pure NeilPryde.

The Defi Wind is unlike anything else in our sport: a massive fleet all on the same start line, charging downwind in the full force of the Tramontana off Gruissan. No room to hide, no easy heats – just raw speed, tight lines and the wind doing its worst. The Tramontana came in nuking, and our riders were ready.

Nico Prien – 1st place, Fin. Out of 1,400 windsurfers and across five races at full power, Nico (GER-7) came out on top. A massive result and a huge effort in conditions that pushed everyone to the limit. Congratulations, Nico! we're proud. 🏆

Matteo Iachino – 2nd overall, Fin. Right at the front of the fleet, Matteo backed it up with second place overall. In his first season in NeilPryde colours, he showed exactly why he's one of the most consistent racers on the water. Well done, Matteo.

The De Jong sisters – the entire U20 Girls Fin podium. Bobby-Lynn, Kit and Lone locked out 1st, 2nd and 3rd. One podium, three sisters, one clean sweep, in the same merciless conditions the whole fleet battled. The powersisters delivered a result that speaks for itself.

The Defi Wind never hands out results – you earn them. This week, our crew earned plenty. Race-proven, once again.
