What a week at Sotavento! The Freestyle competition at the Fuerteventura Grand Slam wrapped up earlier this week and what a ride it was! While the overall event continues through July 26 with other disciplines, our freestyle crew has already delivered a performance to remember. Four days of full-throttle action in howling trade winds, blazing sunshine and an atmosphere that was absolutely electric. The world's best freestylers gathered in Sotavento to battle it out in the brutal double-elimination format – and our NeilPryde team showed once again why they‘re the ones to beat!
Let's start with the one and only Sarah-Quita Offringa – what else is there to say? Sarah absolutely crushed it! With mind-blowing moves that she pulls off like it's nothing, she dominated the women's final and secured the 1st place – claiming the title of PWA Women's Freestyle World Champion on Fuerteventura. That's her incredible 29th World Title! Yes, you read that right: 29! Hats off, Sarah – we're celebrating you big time! Absolutely legendary!
But the guys brought the heat too: Yentel Caers from Belgium was the man of the tournament! With insane power and creative combos, he fought his way through a massive field and snagged a super well-deserved 2nd place. Yentel, that was a statement – we're so proud of you!
"This week was just insane!", Yentel beamed after his final heat. "Competing at this level and then ending up on the podium – I didn't expect that. The gear worked perfectly and the vibes here were just awesome – a perfect season opener!"
And Sarah added with a grin: "I'm so happy! The girls really pushed me, but that's exactly what I love. When the wind is blowing and the board is flying, it's double the fun. This win is for the team!"
Our team absolutely crushed it! Gold for Sarah, silver for Yentel – the start to the PWA season couldn't have gone any better. We're beyond proud of them both!
