Twin-Cam Freerace

The V8 is a freerace sail that offers incredible acceleration with each gust as well as from non-planing condition. True race sail performance combined with a narrower sleeve, 7 battens and twin Integracams to achieve great handling and light feel. Extreme early planning, soft rotation, large wind range, great upwind and upper hand control, the V8 has extra power and drive needed to accelerate and go fast on freerace boards. The sail configuration makes it considerably lighter in maneuvers, less physical and easier to downhaul than pure race sails. Slalom for everyone.

Features

  • Custom laminated clew for optimized strength and load distribution. It features internally laminated Kevlar stripes that distribute the loads in the Clew area.

  • Deep profile in lower body section for controllable power combined with very smooth leech release and open head twist for acceleration and control in the gusts.

  • Moderate sleeve width combining stability and aerodynamic benefits of wide sleeve racing sails with improved handling and reduced weight.

  • Twin Cam design uses cams in a critical place to support the deepest profile in the boom area without sacrificing rotation.

  • Fully tubular middle and upper sail section reduces the weight and provides optimum profile stability; only foot batten does not use tube in order not to compromise durability in this vulnerable area.

Designer's Comment

On the new V8, I merged the advantages of wide, race inspired luff sleeve design and a deep powerful profile with soft rotation, easy rigging and light weight made possible by the Integra-Cam. The result is an incredible acceleration from get-go, excellent middle wind range top speed and upper-end camber-supported profile stability.

Under the Hood

Technology

  • ArmourWeb is constructed from full polyester lines at +/-40 degrees, creating an interlaced, woven web for high tear resistance. Available on Fusion / Ryde / Speedster / V8 / Dragonfly.

  • The new dual boom length options, allows for the rider to adapt the sail’s performance to various conditions. Outer clew position can be used when you are looking for extra power and upwind lift while the inside clew setting provides better power release and control. Those performance adjustments are made possible by the outer position supporting (locking) the lower leech twist for increased power, while the inner position allows the lower leech to twist freely making it release excessive power while locking the draft forward.

  • Fully integrated compact camber providing regular cam enducer profile support while keeping the soft rotation of a no-cam sail.

  • Double stitching is used on all critical seams on all sails allowing them to endure prolonged exposure to high loads and impacts.
