A week of shifting winds on Ringkøbing Fjord ends with double reason to celebrate.
The 2026 IFCA Fin Slalom European Championships wrapped up after six days of racing in Hvide Sande, Denmark. As always, the fjord served up a full mix of conditions — from gusty squalls and heavy rain that halted racing mid-week, to a nail-biting, light-wind final on the final day before the breeze finally settled in at 12–16 knots for the last deciding races. It made for a true test of consistency, and two JP Australia riders answered the call in style.
Nico Prien – European Champion
Nico put in a masterclass of composure across a week that offered anything but stable conditions. After moving into the overall lead by day two, he never let go of it, holding off a hard-charging fleet through the shifting winds and rain delays to seal the title on the final afternoon. The result crowns him the 2026 IFCA Fin Slalom European Champion — a thoroughly deserved title after a season that has already seen him take the win at the Défi Wind earlier in the year.

Anton Richter – Youth Division Champion and 6th place overall
While the headlines went to the overall podium, Anton had a championship of his own to celebrate, topping the Youth Division in Hvide Sande. Racing the same tricky fjord conditions as the senior fleet, Richter showed the speed and race craft to match it, at times slotting into the top five of the overall Men’s standings against a stacked international field. It’s a brilliant result and a clear sign of the talent coming up through the ranks. Congratulations, Anton — the Youth title in Hvide Sande is a great addition to what’s shaping up to be a standout season!
