Congratulations to Robby Swift and Colette Guadagnino for making it through to the finals of the Maui Pro Am!
This was the first Spring-time event at Ho'okipa for at least 15 years and the April Maui winds didn't disappoint, allowing us an awesome spectacle with the first Maui event that has featured jumping in almost as many years.
Colette and Robby were on form right from the first heats and made it through an extremely challenging field of riders in the Men's and Women's fleets, all the way to the final where they both came 4th.
Morgan Noireaux made it to the semi-finals and sailed incredibly in one of the most entertaining semi-final heats in many years but sadly just came short of making the final.
Yushi Shirakata came to Maui all the way from Japan and sailed some excellent heats, finishing the event in 17th and taking home some awesome memories of Maui!
Some words from Robby:
"What an awesome event we had at the @mauiproam
Thank you so much to @goyawindsurfing and team for the monumental effort they put into pulling off the first Spring time event in Maui. It was stop 4 of the major @pwaworldtour / @world_wave_tour events this year.
The fleet was absolutely packed with windsurfing legends from all over the world and the conditions showed up in a big way to give us an awesome playing field and let us feature jumps in the Maui event for the first time in about 15 years.
I felt extremely honoured to have made the final for the first time ever in a Maui event, sharing the stage with @marciliobrowne @marcpare334 and @takara_ishii was a lifetime achievement.
Also congrats to long time teammate @cocov711 for making the final of the Pro Women!
I was happy to support in a little way with my new company Swift Watersports and can’t wait for more collaborations with the dedicated Maui windsurf crew, moving along together to make things bigger and better for all of us 💪🏼
And thank you to the team for dedicating the event to our dear friend @piomfchawaii hopefully you got to enjoy all of the action Pio and you know we are all sending you all of our love and positive vibes at all times!!"
From Colette:
"It had been quite a few years since I last competed, so when my good friend Anne-Marie Reichman Totah called and encouraged me to sign up for the Maui Pro-Am at Ho’okipa, I hesitated. I hadn’t windsurfed at Ho’okipa in a while, and honestly, I wasn’t sure if I was ready to jump back into the competition scene. But after some gentle (and not-so-gentle!) nudging from my husband, I thought, “Why not?” and signed up.
I told myself I was doing this for Pio. Every day that we’re healthy and able to get on the water is a gift—a blessing that should never be taken for granted. From the moment I hit the water, I was reminded of that.
It was such a treat to finally have a proper wave event at Ho’okipa with solid wind- waves and jumps counting! Since I’ve always loved jumping, I felt like I was in heaven. The level of the women’s fleet was impressive, and it was such a joy to sail alongside so many talented ladies. Getting to know new faces, reconnecting with familiar ones, and sharing the lineup with this inspiring crew made the whole experience even more meaningful.
Being part of this event reminded me how special our windsurfing community is. Seeing everyone out there charging, smiling, and pushing themselves lit a fire in me. I left the beach feeling grateful, stoked, and more excited than ever to sail Ho’okipa again."
