Massive congratulations to Marino for accomplishing his childhood dream of winning the Gloria Gran Canaria PWA.
Marino had been on blistering form leading up to the event, producing high quality reels from every free-sailing session.
The extra - strong winds during the later heats of the competition propelled him to new heights as he reached for his 3.3 Combat for the first time.
To add some icing to the cake, Marino also found out that his 1st place here gives him the points lead in the Unified PWA / IWT World Tour rankings, having finished 9th in Japan and 5th in Chile.
From heat 1, Marino was on stellar form, posting over 26 points in every heat and went even more radical in the final, posting a huge double forward, then an even bigger stalled double forward and finishing off the heat with a massive push loop forward.
He sailed the first heats on his 3.7 and Magic Wave 82 and then changed down to the 3.3 and Ultimate Wave 75 for the final heats as the wind peaked at over 40 knots.
We couldn't be prouder Marino. Your technical skills, bravery and incredible poise under pressure were a sight to behold and we wish you all the best while enjoying this victory, and hope that there will be many more to come!! You ripped!!!
