Massive congratulations to Sarah Quita Offringa for winning the Fuerteventura Freestyle World Cup and 2024 World Title!
Having set the highest score of the contest in her first heat, at 28.5 points, Sarah Quita did not mess around, putting on an incredible display of freestyle and taking her power air moves to a new level.
The final of the single and super final of the double were sailed against her close friend Oda Brodholt and Sarah-Quita put her head down to produce a solid score sheet on both tacks, filled with sliding and power moves.
This victory solidified an incredible 23rd World Title for her, as she clinched the 2024 Freestyle crown and left her poised to continue her incredible streak with Slalom X starting tomorrow - and the beginning of the chance to secure World Title number 24 having won the opening event of Slalom-X in Gran Canaria!!
Men’s Freestyle
Huge congratulations to our team for taking up 3 out of the top 10 spots! Yentel 3rd. Sam 5th Nicolas 9th.
Our reigning world champion, Yentel Caers charged through the single elimination of the Men’s Freestyle until the semi-finals where he went blow-for-blow with Lennart Neubauer in an incredibly high scoring heat but ultimately just lost out by a margin of 40.2 points to 37.6. It has to be said that this was the highest scoring heat of the entire single elimination.
The losers final was an all NeilPryde and JP affair as Sam Esteve had sailed incredibly well on the other side of the draw, gaining notable victories against freestyle masters and ex-world champions Steven Van Broeckhoven and Yacopo Testa. In the losers final though, Yentel continued his Fuerte form to yet again post over 30 points and solidified his place on the podium.
In the double elimination, Yentel had to face up to close friend Balz Muller and they sailed one of the most entertaining heats of the contest, matching each other blow for blow and enjoying their time on the water immensely.
In the end, Yentel was able to hold onto his 3rd place and went on to challenge Neubauer for 2nd place in an excruciatingly close heat, but ultimately ended up having to settle for 3rd. An incredible achievement in what was one of the most intense displays of power Freestyle windsurfing the world has ever seen.
